Dr Cormac Corr was featured in an article on research funding in The Australian newspaper's Higher Education Supplement on 24 April 2013.
The article reports on the volatile nature of research funding in Australia in light of disruptions in the science and research ministerial portfolios arising from cabinet reshuffles, and in anticipation of the federal government's anticipated 2013 budget announcements.
The article advocates for more strategic and consistent planning of research funding. Michael Gallagher, executive director of the Group of Eight, the peak body of Australia's research-intensive universities, is quoted as saying "We can't have a stop-start approach".
The future of the Cormac's research into fusion energy Australian Plasma Fusion Research Facility is painted as uncertain because of delays to a federal government decision on a new long-term national scientific infrastructure funding plan.
